WELCOME to Deep Roots Garden Center, the South Bay's premier destination for native plants and water-wise gardening.

Deep Roots Community Relations Connections

Deep Roots is committed to being involved with the community. We have a dedicated space in the store called the “Community Corner”, where we encourage any and all to come and post flyers for upcoming events and let the public know what’s going on locally. It doesn’t even have to be garden related, we just want to know the best places to eat, who’s playing at the club, what fundraisers are happening, and so on. Got an event? Come and post on the wall. Own a local business? Use our store to help promote yours.

We have in the works different donations that we will be making to local schools and charities. If you are sponsoring an event and need a donation let us know. While we can’t help everyone, we will do our best to accommodate you and supply something beautiful for your event.

Deep Roots is an active partner in the Greenbelt Restoration Project in Manhattan Beach. We are supplying plant material to volunteer project coordinator Jeanne Jackson and Manhattan Beach City Council at our cost. They needs your help and donations to help fund the project. For more information on this great project click here.

We are forming a partnership with Heal the Bay and will soon be offering members special discounts and sales. This wonderful organization operates as a completely non-profit group, working very hard to keep our beaches and oceans clean. We encourage all our customers to become involved in the preservation of our coastline.

Soon, Deep Roots will provide a sign-up and information center for Heal the Bay, making it easy to become a member of this wonderful organization.

We are happy to announce that we are a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) drop-off site. CSA is a coalition of local farmers who want to keep food as local as possible. Produce being grown in other states, or worse, other countries, is treated differently than local produce, and that’s a difference you can taste! Because local produce doesn’t have such a long ride to its final destination, it can be picked at a much more ripened state, making for dramatically improved flavor. Local gardeners also tend to grow different, exciting varieties, and as they operate on a smaller scale the produce is handled more carefully. Our cooperative leases land in Bakersfield and brings their crop to you fresh every week.

When you sign up at Deep Roots for the CSA, a big box of fresh, locally grown seasonal produce will be waiting for you to pick up at our store. Prices start at $21/week, and the produce will vary week to week depending on what is in season. For example, during cool months you will see a preponderance of leafy greens and root vegetables, and in the warm months you’ll see more fruits like summer squash, melons, tomatoes and fruit. To find out more use this link to check out the South Central Farmer’s Cooperative. You’ll be able to see what a typical box looks like, and how you can help needy families by donating a box. We think this is a wonderful program and are proud to offer it to you. Please sign up at Deep Roots Garden Center instead of on the SCFC site as it is easier for us to keep track of orders. Contact Barbara at deeprootsnews@aol.com to sign up or call 310-376-0567. Cash or check only please.
